PENN CAN SPEEDWAY ADDS XCEL 600 MODIFIEDS TO WEEKLY RACING CARD
Susquehanna, PA… Plans for the 2013 Penn Can Speedway racing season are rapidly coming together at the Susquehanna County oval. In a recent meeting at the Parts Peddler Trade Show in Syracuse, track promoters Reed Miller and Al Wilcox along with Xcel 600 Modified founder Doug Borger announced that Penn Can Speedway will be a home track for the popular Xcel 600 modifieds during the 2013 season. Miller and Borger have worked out a duel schedule where the cars will compete in twelve regular Friday night events along with at least one tour series race per month.
"Reed Miller and Al Wilcox run a professional racetrack in Susquehanna, PA that is popular with my drivers. They are a home track for the 2013 season. We have agreed on dates,” states Borger.
The Xcel modifieds running at Penn Can in the home track portion of the schedule will compete as one of the regular divisions at the speedway. They will be handicapped, scored, teched, and paid by Penn Can Speedway. All rules will follow those developed by Xcel Chassis. Points will be accumulated and a point fund will be paid at the Penn Can Speedway banquet. When the tour comes to Penn Can on those selected dates, the program will be run under the guidance of the Xcel 600 Modified Series.
“We made our initial announcements at some of the fall races to gauge the interest in weekly racing at Penn Can. We had great response and now look forward to this new partnership at Penn Can,” explains Miller. “The first appearance of the Xcels should be during the 2013 “Can Opener”. The date will be announced shortly.”
The Xcel 600 will be joining the mighty modifieds, 602 Sportsman, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, and Four Cylinders. The 2013 schedule is being developed and will be announced shortly.
The speedway is located on Route 171 in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania just a short drive from the Binghamton and Scranton areas. For more information call the speedway office at 570-585-9928. The speedway is sponsored in part for the 2013 season by great corporate partners including Don’s Automotive Mall, Gary’s U-Pull-It, Pump-N-Pantry Stores, Trackside Products, Hornbeck Chevrolet, NEP Telephone, Pine Line Auto, Adams Cable Service, VP Race Fuels, and American Race Tires.
